Skies and vistas for Firewalk Studios / Sony
A dedicated team led by Nic Donel crafted the skies and vistas that supported Concord's visual style.
Over a little more than a year, Mooncloud founder Nic Donel led a small team of artists building the skies and vistas behind Concord’s visual identity — horizons that teased mysteries, skies that carried mood without fighting gameplay, and light and atmosphere that sold each world as a place.
Guild Commercial Control. Arid, thin-aired, and built around a single scar in the ground. The Guild dragged an asteroid larger than most moons across four systems, crashed it into Silo, and planted a fortified spire in the resulting crater — a defensible seat of power for its government and commercial engines. Crater City grew up around it, and the strings that control the Wilds are pulled from the tower at its center.
Extinction as an industry. The vastadons of Akkar died when a hunk of their moon made planetfall — and then found a second life as raw material. Their bones are the dry mix for designer concrete; their eggs are the primary ingredient in Universal Flavor, the additive the Guild sprinkles on anything it calls food. A collapsing sky above, bone mines and processing valleys below.

Akkar — Extinction ValleyThe moon at the end of the galaxy. Guild expansion stopped here, not by plan but because scout ships never came back out of The Nothing. Soft warm light, billowing cloud, abundant growth — and the remains of things that ended on this moon: ancient Sentries, giant robots, an observatory full of stars nobody can reach.

Gloom — Robot RuinsOne ocean, endless weather. A single choppy sea plagued by hurricanes and enormous tides pulled by the low-hanging Red Moon, stocked with ravenous Morack eels. It is also supersaturated with fuel salt — enough to power the superlight engines that connect the galaxy — which makes it the most valuable world in the Wilds. The Guild harvests the salt, the eels, and the lightning.

Leviathan — LightningThe Salt Lord’s domain. Scorching deserts, relentless suns, and bad-tempered toxic insectoids — and a fortune underfoot. Mineral-rich water shipped from Leviathan is evaporated here, leaving fields of fuel salt that are processed on-world and shipped out to the galaxy’s starships. Those ugly white flats bankroll the autocrat who rules Glance, at least until the Guild finds a way to remove him without interrupting supply.
